Monsters & Makers Art Build

We’re excited to introduce Monsters & Makers, a brand-new community art build in partnership with Rhizome DC! Join Rhizome artists and neighbors of all ages as we create creepy creatures, spooky surprises, and one-of-a-kind art for the 10th Annual Spookyville: Haunted Alley on October 30.

Join us on Saturday, October 10 from 3:00–5:00 PM in the backyard of 738 Van Buren Street, NW, as we transform everyday materials like cardboard, fabric, scrap wood, wire, mesh, bottles, and more into delightfully spooky creations that will be unveiled at Spookyville. Inspired by Rhizome DC’s spirit of creativity, reuse, and community-making, we’ll spend the afternoon making a little Halloween magic together.

How it works:

🎨 Bring your creativity, any leftover materials you'd like to donate (cardboard, fabric, scrap wood, wire, mesh, bottles, and more), and any maker supplies you’d like to use or share (scissors, paint, paintbrushes, glue guns, hot glue sticks, and more).

🧟  Create creepy creatures, spooky surprises, and one-of-a-kind art with your neighbors and enjoy pizza and drinks from La Mia Italia.

✨ Return for the 10th Annual Spookyville: Haunted Alley on October 30 and see your creations brought to life as part of the festivities.

Whether you’re handy with a hot glue gun or just ready to make a little Halloween magic, we’d love to have you. Neighbors of all ages are welcome.
